Hurricane Michael heading to Florida

Hurricane Michael is currently passing through Cuba and is expected to continue to Florida. There are possibilities that it will be a mayor hurricane when striking Florida at the Northeastern Gulf Coast on Wednesday. The graph below shows Michael’s trajectory for this week.

Governor Rick Scott on Sunday night declared a state of emergency for 26 counties and is expected to expand the order. The counties under state of emergency are: Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Bay, Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor, Hamilton, Suwannee, Lafayette, Dixie, Columbia, Gilchrist, Levy, and Citrus.

Likewise, a Storm Surge Watch is in effect for Navarre Florida to Anna Maria Island Florida, including Tampa Bay. This means there is a possibility of life-threatening inundation, from rising water moving inland from the coastline, in the indicated locations during the next 48 hours. Also, a Hurricane Watch is in effect for Alabama-Florida border to Suwannee River Florida, which means tropical-storm-force winds and conditions could make outside preparations difficult or dangerous.
