How’s Brickell and Downtown Miami during COVID-19?

As many businesses has transitioned to remote working to follow the stay home order, most offices at the Miami financial district are closed. Despite the this fact, some social distancing issues have become a concern on the streets due to increased pedestrian traffic, who have nowhere to go and cannot keep the suggested distance on the sidewalks.
The county is asking people to use public transit and STS services for essential trips only. Fares have been suspended for riders who depend on public transportation for essential trips. For more information about public transportation updates click here.

Some restaurants and bars are still open only for delivery or pickup. Authorities are looking at capacity restrictions that would require bars and dining rooms to cut seating in half if these reopen soon. If you are around the area, consider taking the recommended preventive measures, several supermarkets in the area have been reporting confirmed cases of COVID-19 lately.
Fortunately, select common areas at Brickell City Center have remained open, but the retail portion is closed until further notice. Sadly, CMX Cinema’s parent company, which has locations in Brickell City Center and other Miami spots like the Dolphin Mall, recently filed for bankruptcy.
However, the party hasn’t stop completely in Miami! People at their balconies have been sharing music and serving themselves a drink or two on weekends. Incredibly, the famous DJ @davidguetta successfully gave a coronavirus relief concert from the rooftop of the emblematic Icon Brickell building raising $700,000. The funds will go towards four organizations, including Feeding South Florida and the World Health Organization’s Solidarity Response Fund. Check out the video.
